The Waiver

The Complementary and Integrative Health (CIH) Waiver reflects a broader movement in healthcare toward preventative and holistic approaches—aimed at reducing taxpayer costs while enhancing quality of life for individuals living with paralysis. As part of Colorado’s Home and Community Based Services (HCBS) program, the CIH Waiver provides additional benefits that help participants remain in their homes and communities, avoiding the restrictions and expenses associated with institutional care.

Building upon the Elderly, Blind, and Disabled (EBD) Waiver, the CIH Waiver expands available services to include Massage Therapy, Acupuncture, and Chiropractic Care for eligible participants. Many individuals choose Massage Therapy to support improved blood circulation, better sleep and digestion, reduced reliance on pain medication, and an overall higher quality of life.
